Young Living Essential Oils
Essential oils have empowered me as the first-line health care provider for my kids like nothing else I've come across. They are so versatile, accessible, and relatively safe that I strongly encourage every parent (and non-parent) to learn more about them and give them a try.
If you're thinking about starting to use oils, I highly recommend getting a diffuser. Young Living has an awesome one that diffuses the oils into the air throughout a 30 foot radius of where ever you put it. There are cheaper options on Amazon, but they can't cover as large an area so you'd have to have one in each room (which isn't very practical, and would end up costing more anyway). You can also adjust the output as well as set the light to be on or off. The cheaper ones on Amazon do work ok for diffusing bedside though, so I actually have a second one so that if two of us are sick at the same time I can diffuse in two rooms at the same time.
Normally the Young Living diffuser alone is $98.68 retail (or $75 wholesale if you order through a Young Living member such as myself). But with the Premium Starter Kit you get the diffuser, 11 different 5ml bottles of common oils people use, some sample products for you to try or share with others, plus a Young Living membership that gives you access to wholesale pricing (24% off) on any other Young Living products for a whole year with no minimum orders. Retail for all of this would be $293.88 and even wholesale would still be $237. Young Living currently has it priced at $150. That was a deal I couldn't pass up, even as thrifty as I am! There is also an option to get just the diffuser and the wholesale membership for $75, but if you're wanting to start using oils and you don't have any/many then it makes a lot more sense to get the kit that includes the oils at a reduced price. Here's a link to a website that shows the kit options. Just scroll halfway down to the first row of pictures and you'll see them all there.

The everyday oils that come with the Premium Starter Kit include:
-Frankincense (great for depression, headaches, wrinkles, and preventing scars)
-Lavender (good for skin rashes and cuts/burns)
-Lemon (used to boost the immune system, increase energy, and help with reflux)
-Peppermint (awesome for headaches, sinus pain, and joint/muscle pain)
-PanAway (relieves various types of pain in the body depending upon where you apply it, and also prevents bruising)
-Citrus Fresh (great for detoxing, supports immune system, uplifting/energizing)
-Purification (works well to clean allergens out of the air when diffused, and when applied topically it it great for repelling bugs/ticks and treating bug bites)
-Thieves (helps treat sickness and prevent it from spreading when diffused and applied topically)
-Melaleuca Alternifolia (supports skin health, respiratory health, and oral health and helps with cuts/rashes
-Joy (works really well for winter blues/depression, or if you're just having a bad day)
-Stress Away (for when you are stressed out)
Filling out that first page does not obligate you to buy anything. It's basically just registering you on the YL site so that you can see all their products with wholesale prices listed. You won't be buying anything until you enter your credit card info on the check-out screen after you've filled your shopping cart. ***Be sure to select WHOLESALE MEMBER instead of retail customer because that is what will give you the wholesale pricing. And in step 3 where it asks you to pick an essential rewards kit, just scroll down and select "No, thank you. I plan on enrolling in the Essential Rewards Program later."
I should also let you know that there is always an additional promotion of getting free oils when you purchase 190 PV worth of product on one order, so if there are any other oils you'd like to have on hand right away (such as RC for coughs, Breathe Again for congestion, or Di-Gize for vomiting/diarrhea), it pays to order then along with your start kit so that you can get the free oils as well. I took advantage of that promo when I signed up for my kit.

Once you get some oils, there is a great oil testimonial site at www.oil-testimonials.com where people post what oils have helped them with various symptoms/conditions. You have to sign up for an account to use it but it's free. There is also a great reference book that you can get. The full sized version has one section with all the oils what they do/how to use them, and another section where you look up a symptom or condition and it says which oils to try and how to apply them. There is also a smaller version that I travel with that just has the symptom part. This is the cheapest place I've found to get them: http://www. abundanthealth4u.com/ Reference_Guide_Bundle_ Softcover_p/1000.htm. This link will bring you to a bundled pack with both of them, but they also sell them individually.
If you have a smart phone, you can also download a free app that helps you know which oils to use for what. It's called the Healthier Thymes Young Living Essential Oils app. Just do a search on your device to find it. Or there is also an app for the reference book mentioned above.
Muscle Activation Techniques
Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)™ is a bodywork technique that
identifies and treats musculoskeletal imbalances through a systematic series of
range of motion assessments, manual muscles tests, palpation treatments, and
isometric strengthening exercises. This
biomechanics-based therapy is designed to prevent and treat pain associated
with these imbalances by screening for strength deficits and muscle inhibition
(the inability to recruit all motor units of a functional muscle group to their
full extent).
Most current forms of therapy and exercise recognize muscle tightness
as the primary factor leading to pain or injury. The MAT process looks at muscle weakness,
rather than muscle tightness, as the cause of limitations in range of
motion. When the body recognizes
instability (muscle weakness), it is designed to protect itself. It sends messages to surrounding muscles to
tighten up in an attempt to support and protect the joint. With a systematic evaluation procedure that
correlates limitations in range of motion to muscle weakness, MAT treats weak
muscles in order to address instability.
In turn, protective contractions diminish, typically resulting in an
increased joint range of motion. Along
with this increased joint range of motion, there is also an increase in
stability through the range of motion (mobility with stability). This increase in joint mobility combined with
joint stability is fundamental to the MAT program. It is the foundation behind improving
people’s ability to function.
Nutrition Response Testing
Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) is a non-invasive system of analyzing the body to determine the underlying causes of health concerns. Using muscle testing, we are checking the body's neurological reflexes and the ability of the nervous system to regulate each organ.
There are multiple steps to NRT, including:
-verifying that the arm muscle can 'lock' effectively and consistently
-checking for blocked regulation of the autonomic nervous system
-checking for neurologic switching
-scanning the body for stress/imbalances
-finding the cause of any stress/imbalances (often one or more of five stressors: active scars, chemical toxicity, heavy metal toxicity, food intolerance, and/or immune challenges such as a virus, bacteria, fungus, or parasite)
-determine the most effective way to correct the stress/imbalance
If you are coming in as a new NRT client, please print and complete the following form:

Common Sources of Heavy Metals
Common Sources of Heavy Metals
(20% more absorbed through skin than through ingestion)
Aluminum: baking powder, cosmetics,
cookware, antacids, anti-perspirants, aluminum cans, aluminum cookware
(restaurants!), kitchen utensils, paints, dental composites, kidney dialysis
Arsenic: poisons, pigments, dyes, wood
preservatives, insecticides, wine, well water (near agricultural runoff), coal
burning, seafood/fish/shellfish, meat, poultry, treated lumber (wood in
bedrooms, under mattresses, or around gardens), glass & pesticide manufacturing,
tobacco smoke
Antimony: fire retardants (mattresses/pajamas/furniture),
medications, glass/ceramics, pigments, batteries, plumbing solder (replaced
lead-based)
Cadmium: zinc deficiency (zinc displaces
cadmium), diet high in processed foods (processed meats, refined grains, instant coffee, & cola drinks
all cause zinc deficiency), iron/steel/copper coatings, rubber/plastic stabilizer,
fungicides, rice/wheat grown in soil contaminated by
sewage sludge/super phosphate fertilizers/irrigation water, evaporated milk,
tuna/codfish/haddock/shellfish, cigarette smoke, paint, pigments, air
pollution, water from galvanized or PVC pipes, solder
used to seal cans, dental amalgams, vehicle exhaust, incineration of
plastics/rubber/tires/paints (garbage burning)

pollution (coal/oil burning), dental crowns, cement, surgical metal (joint
replacements), soil, asbestos, road dust, tobacco smoke, anti-freeze,
anti-algae agents, copier chemicals, ceramics/glass, tattooing, welding, wood
preservatives, leather tanning
Copper: copper plumbing
(softener salt leaches it from pipes, as does acidic water), sewage sludge,
beer, swimming pools, copper cookware, inorganic mineral supplements, dental fillings/crowns,
birth control pills, copper contraception devices; women are more prone to copper accumulation because the female hormone
estrogen increases copper retention, as are those with low zinc levels
(zinc displaces copper), high stress
(stress decreases zinc), weak adrenals/liver (can’t get copper out), and low metabolism;
soy products, beans, whole grains and nuts all are copper-heavy
Gold: jewelry,
dental fillings, injections for arthritis
Iron:
dyes/inks/paints/pigments, inorganic mineral supplements; vitamin C/citric acid/lactic
acid/HCL all help body to absorb usable iron; phytates/fibers in whole grains/nuts,
calcium/phosphorus in milk/supplements, EDTA in food additives, & tannic
acid in tea/coffee/nuts all prevent body from absorbing usable iron
Lead: car
exhaust, paint (prior to 1978), outdoor play structures with old lead paint
(& soil around), canned foods, hair dyes, news print, tap water (softener
salt leaches lead from soldered pipe joints & faucets), toys (prior to 1978
or made outside of US), brass plumbing fixtures, pump components in private
wells, decaffeinated coffee
Manganese: ceramics,
antiseptics, dyes, medicines, steel products (welding fumes), air pollution
